Our client is a leading property management business seeking an experienced Senior Client Accountant to join their growing finance team. The role requires strong property accounting experience across commercial assets e.g. office space, retail, shopping centres etc. The function of the role is the delivery of financial and property reporting for a range of clients and properties across a diverse portfolio.
The Senior Client Accountant will work within a team in line with tasks detailed below:
- Deliver accurate client reporting, including standard and client specific reports, ensuring all SLAs and KPIs are met
- Prepare audit packs and full statutory accounts
- Reconcile client reports including VAT and client statements
- Prepare VAT reports and returns in line with Making Tax Digital requirements
- Act as the primary point of contact for client finance queries, providing clear support and advice
- Work closely with Surveying and internal teams to ensure all client deliverables are achieved
- Perform detailed balance sheet reviews, completing remedial work with clear supporting commentary
- Manage client and property cash flow and funding requirements
- Lead annual service charge reviews, liaising with Asset Managers and Service Charge teams to ensure best practice compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and governance standards
- Prepare and review property take on and handover financial information
- Attend client and internal meetings as required
- Maintain and manage property and tenant lease data across financial systems
- Review the work of junior team members, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Support ad hoc projects as directed by senior finance leadership and clients
- Assist with team development through training, knowledge sharing, and buddy support
Key requirements and skills:
- Property experience in the commercial space e.g. office space, retail, shopping centres
- Experience in managing or supervising a team
- Preparation of VAT reports and returns to HMRC, in line with Making Tax Digital
- Solid financial and technical reporting experience in a client service role
- Systems experience with either MRI, Qube, Horizon, TRAMPS or similar
- Strong analytical skills of all ledgers is required
- Advanced Excel skills
