We are working with a hospitality business that operates a diverse collection of venues across the UK and overseas. Known for delivering high quality food and service, the business continues to grow and invest in its people. They are now looking to hire an experienced Payroll Officer to join their finance team. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll. You will work closely with finance, HR and operations to ensure payroll runs smoothly and compliantly. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of hospitality payroll, including tronc.
Key responsibilities
- Run end to end monthly payroll for 400 plus employees across multiple sites, including salary and tronc
- Prepare and maintain tronc calculations and reports in line with current legislation
- Process statutory payments and deductions in line with UK payroll and tax rules
- Produce P60s, P45s, P11Ds and all payroll documentation accurately and on time
- Reconcile payroll to weekly rotas and investigate variances
- Support weekly staff cost reporting and labour forecasting
- Perform regular payroll checks and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain compliant payroll and tronc records, including audit and government requirements
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries, working closely with HR and operations
- Maintain payroll and HR systems and liaise with external providers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external providers and key internal stakeholders.
Person Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Payroll Officer or similar hands-on payroll role, within a multi-site hospitality business – ESSENTIAL
- Strong working knowledge of tronc processing and legislation – ESSENTIAL
- Solid understanding of UK payroll processes, systems and statutory compliance
- Confident Excel skills with the ability to analyse payroll data and reconcile variances
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Clear and professional communicator, comfortable working with finance, HR and operations teams
- Experience with tronc – candidates without working tronc experience will not be considered
