We are urgently looking for a highly capable Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering Team at our Pontypool site. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast‑moving, growing food manufacturing business where engineering plays a critical role in operational performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

We are specifically looking for an engineer with both strong electrical and mechanical capability who can confidently “hit the ground running” in a busy production environment. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable fault‑finding electrically as they are carrying out hands‑on mechanical maintenance and repairs. This is far more than a standard maintenance role. You’ll become part of a dynamic engineering team where your expertise will directly influence plant performance, downtime reduction, reliability, and continuous improvement activity across the site. We need someone who can quickly integrate into the team, confidently support production from day one, and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset to engineering challenges.

This is what you’ll actually do!

  • Diagnose faults quickly and effectively
  • Minimise downtime and improve plant reliability
  • Carry out repairs, maintenance, and root cause analysis
  • Support continuous improvement and engineering projects
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Record maintenance activity, downtime, and materials within the CMMS system (Mainsaver)
  • Support compliance with Food Safety, GMP, and Health & Safety standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve machinery performance and operational efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with Production and Engineering leadership regarding downtime and corrective actions
  • Support operators with basic asset care and equipment understanding
  • Monitor contractors when required to ensure standards and timelines are achieved

Ideally this is you!

  • Strong multi‑skilled engineering capability across both electrical and mechanical disciplines
  • The ability to confidently troubleshoot and repair equipment independently
  • Experience within a fast‑paced manufacturing or FMCG environment (food manufacturing preferred)
  • A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure
  • Excellent fault‑finding and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience using CMMS systems, ideally Mainsaver
  • Strong understanding of Food Safety, Health & Safety, and GMP standards
  • Excellent communication and team‑working skills
  • Time‑served apprenticeship SVQ, HNC, or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Appropriate electrical and mechanical competency depending on core discipline

What’s in it for you?

  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Leave to allow quality time with your new arrival!
  • Enhanced Pension Scheme for our employees
  • Free Employee Assistance Programme (open to colleagues and their families)
  • Retail discounts accessible via our Benefits Hub platform!
  • Refer a Friend Scheme (up to £300 per referral – T&C’s dependent)
  • Employee Recognition Awards
  • Extensive Learning & Development opportunities (including opportunities for sponsored professional memberships and our own in‑house development course!)
  • An opportunity to be part of a fantastic, growing organisation
