Location: Kara (Bread Division)
Shift: Any 4 from 6 (Sunday to Friday), covering both days and nights – 46 hours per week
Hourly rate: £13.31
We have an opportunity for a Hygiene Operative to join our Hygiene Team at Kara, part of our Bread Division within the Finsbury Food Group. Finsbury Food Group is a leading specialty bakery manufacturer. We constantly raise quality and efficiency standards and build long-term relationships with major multiple retailers and the foodservice channel.
As a Hygiene Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring our production site remains clean, safe, and ready for operation. You will work across all production areas, following strict hygiene procedures and maintaining exceptional standards that help us consistently meet customer and audit expectations. Meeting hygiene targets on time and in line with food safety, legality, and health & safety standards is essential to the success of this role.
What you'll actually do:
- Ensure all production areas, equipment, and facilities are cleaned to the highest hygiene and food safety standards.
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules, carry out deep-clean tasks, and complete shutdown cleans including machinery strip-downs (training provided).
- Work efficiently to tight timescales, ensuring the site is production-ready at all times.
- Accurately complete all hygiene paperwork, ensuring full compliance with due diligence, technical requirements, and site procedures.
- Maintain pest-control standards and adopt safe systems of work to support a safe working environment.
- Promote “clean as you go” practices, promote safe behaviours at all times, and aim for zero accidents.
- Work both independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues to meet hygiene targets and contribute to the overall success of the site.
- Engage in training opportunities to develop your skills and support your progression within the team.
- Additional duties may be required to support operational needs.
Ideally this is you!
- Previous experience in hygiene or industrial cleaning (preferred)
- Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing (advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail with a conscientious approach
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Confident working independently when required
- Physically fit and able to bend, lift, and access areas under machinery
- Good attendance and timekeeping
- Ability to meet deadlines and work to schedules
