We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi-skilled Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Memory Lane Cakes site as part of Finsbury Food Group. Our Memory Lane Cakes site is part of our Cake Division within Finsbury Food Group. They make over 75% of the UK's sharing cakes from retailer own brands cakes, tray bakes through to party cakes like Caterpillar cakes. They employ over 850 people on site and the site runs 24/7, which encompasses a culture of teamwork, friendly and respectful leadership and a focus on continuous improvement at all levels.

The Multi-skilled Engineer role is a fast-paced role that will be responsible for working as an active part of our cross-functional maintenance team. You will provide a multi-skilled engineering resource and first line maintenance to the site covering both mechanical and electrical, breakdown, fault finding and scheduled maintenance activities. To ensure that the site manufacturing equipment is maintained and available for use, continuously monitoring and improving processes.
To be successful in this role, previous experience in Food Manufacturing is desirable but not essential. You will need to have good communication skills being able to mentor and coach other engineers, apprentices and production operators. You will actively participate in the continuous improvement culture, identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce site waste and downtimes.
This is what you’ll actually do! As a Multi-skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for performing planned maintenance and breakdown support to all areas of the site including all service facilities. You will gain understanding of the impact the facilities have on the running of the plant, to ensure the site runs at optimum capacity, through quality engineering, striving to ensure maximum equipment availability and minimising all downtimes. This role provides opportunity for learning and development, and you would take an active role in project developments.

- Relevant experience operating as a multi-skilled engineer role.
- Completed apprenticeship, with appropriate mechanical, electrical and control’s capability (Depending on ‘core’ discipline).
- Appropriate Health and Safety level of training and experience.
- Ability to travel to carry out duties at other facilities within the group and customer base.
- Effective communication, reporting and decision making.
