Location: Fletchers Bakeries Ltd, Sheffield. Shift: Sunday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.00pm (37.5 hours per week). Pay rate: Competitive.
We have an opportunity for a Production Scheduler to join our Scheduling Team at Fletchers Bakeries which forms part of our Northern Cluster. Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying wholesale bakery products for over 35 years. The Production Scheduler plays a key role in ensuring customer demand is met by creating, maintaining, and communicating robust production plans that optimise capacity, efficiency, and operational best practice within a fast-moving FMCG manufacturing environment.
This is what you’ll actually do:
- Develop and maintain production schedules that meet customer demand and business objectives while maximising output within available capacity, labour, and material constraints.
- Determine and continuously review the running order of production lines to optimise efficiency and minimise changeovers.
- Actively manage finished goods inventory to achieve 98.5%+ customer service levels, while minimising write-offs linked to short shelf life.
- Attend and contribute to production review meetings and short interval control forums; monitor production performance and proactively adjust schedules to address disruptions or delays.
- Analyse and report on key planning and production KPIs (yield, efficiency, schedule adherence); identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Work with Material Planners to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging; coordinate with Production, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Planning, and off-site providers for end-to-end alignment.
- Respond to changes in customer demand and priorities; review and adjust production sequencing to meet outbound loading requirements and balance resources.
- Maintain accurate records of production plans, inventory levels, and work orders; ensure planning activities comply with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar supply chain within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or line management role, with the ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team effectively.
- Experience of ERP systems Infor M3 (Desirable).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Confident communicator at all levels.
- Proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Basic reading, writing, numeracy, and computer literacy skills.
