Responsibilities
- Manage engineering resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the planned preventative maintenance programme.
- Respond to equipment faults and failures with appropriate urgency, using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Mainsaver) to record all activities.
- Support on‑line fault finding and practical problem solving, and contribute to ongoing Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Oversee week‑ahead and day‑to‑day planned preventive maintenance schedules to maximise site reliability.
- Evaluate in‑day breakdowns and work requests, assigning priority and resources so Production Downtime remains ≤ 2 %.
- Communicate priorities clearly; ensure effective escalation and reporting of issues via the MARA system.
- Apply safety standards and promote safe working behaviours during all maintenance activities.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work quality meets standards and that all shift activity is accurately captured in CMMS.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support CI projects to boost operational performance.
- Manage a team of direct reports, driving performance, maintaining skills and competencies, and supporting development and succession planning.
- Maintain engineering areas to the highest standards in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Work 60 hours of maintenance time (10 Saturdays per year, 6 am–12 pm).
Essential Qualifications
- Apprentice Trained and Qualified multi‑skilled engineer with recognised Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds minimum).
- Proven track record of front‑line management within an FMCG environment.
- Thorough understanding of PPM techniques.
- Strong desire to develop and coach team performance.
- Working knowledge of legislative standards within the FMCG environment.
- High level of numeracy and ability to analyse and interpret data.
- Proactive problem‑solving approach.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Articulate, confident verbal communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Manufacturing systems experience.
- Project management skills.
- Management of financial budgets.
- Experience in lean/continuous improvement environment.
- Ability to produce detailed engineering and process risk assessments.
