Job Title: Multi-Skilled Production Operative
Shifts: The shift pattern will depend on the primary area in which you are positioned. The Hours available are:
4 on 4 off
5am – 5pm
7am – 7pm
9am – 9pm
4 on 3 off, Monday – Thursday
5pm – 5am
9pm – 7am
7pm – 5am
Monday – Friday, 5am-1pm
Days – £13.42 per hour
Nights – £14.92 per hour
We are looking for Multi-Skilled Production Operatives based at our Ultrapharm site in Pontypool, part of the Finsbury Food Group to support our high-quality, safe, and efficient food production processes.
Ultrapharm is a dedicated Gluten Free Bakery specialising in only Gluten Free Product since 1993. The Company’s unique approach to craft and baking creates premium gluten – free products with the flavour and taste of traditional bread. If you have special dietary need or nutritional preferences, then our Pontypool bakery has you covered. Our Products range from artisanal bread to our award winning Hot cross buns and Mince pies for Major Retailers such as M&S and Waitrose.
About the Role:
In this hands-on role, you’ll be an integral part of the team—moving across multiple lines, operating machinery, and playing a key part in maintaining our excellent hygiene and safety standards. This is what you’ll actually do:
- Operate machinery safely and carry out a variety of production tasks
- Move between production lines and roles based on operational needs
- Accurately complete compliance and production paperwork
- Maintain a clean and safe working area—clean-as-you-go is part of your everyday
- Support end-of-shift cleaning and adhere to hygiene and allergen standards
- Take ownership of daily cleaning duties and report any issues or hazards
- Wear the correct PPE and follow health & safety guidelines at all times
- Participate in training and demonstrate competence in key operational tasks
- Support and share knowledge with colleagues to build team capability
- Cover roles one level up and down (ASH cover) as needed to support the team
Ideally, this is you:
- Experience in food production or a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Comfortable using machinery and completing operational paperwork
- Good understanding of workplace health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Willing to complete cross-training and multi-skilling as needed
- Competence in at least two specialist skill areas (to be trained on site)
- Positive, reliable, and adaptable team member
- Takes pride in cleanliness, quality, and doing a job well
- Open to learning and growing with the business
- Respectful communicator who works well with others
- Approachable, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
