We have an opportunity for a Graduate NPD Buyer to join our Purchasing Team
Finsbury Food Group is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. As our Graduate NPD Buyer You will be responsible for ensuring that all Raw Materials and Packaging are approved to meet specification, are within cost parameters and with achievable lead times. In addition, you will be required to negotiate terms with suppliers and support artwork approval processes.
This is a fast paced role, where the successful candidate will educated to a degree level, with excellent communication skills, be well organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise in order the achieve tight deadlines. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
This role is based at our Hamilton site with hybrid working as an option. On occasion you will be required to attend one of our other sites for meetings which could be weekly or monthly, depending on the requirement and you will also be required to visit suppliers now and again. Therefore willingness to travel is essential.

This is what youāll actually do!
As Graduate NPD Buyer they will proactively source new Raw Materials and Packing to allow our NPD Team to develop new & exciting products. They will work closely with the development teams, ensuring that all new product requests are dealt with within required time scales. Regular attendance at product launch meetings and keeping team advised of any new product material issues.
The successful candidate will ensure that correct specifications and artworks are validated with site Technical team for all new product launches . They will also negotiate prices with suppliers and ensure best terms are sought in line with approved costings and ensure that new products are āfit for purposeā in production.
To be successful in this role, the candidate should be able to demonstrate the capability to negotiate and purchase materials from a range of suppliers. Some purchasing and buying experience, particularly in the food industry could be an advantage, but not essential as training and development can be provided for the right applicant.

- Educated to Degree level.
- Well organised with the ability to āmulti-taskā and prioritise workload in order to achieve tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with Key Stakeholders (Internal and External).
- High standard of computer literacy i.e. Microsoft Office, ERP, NPD Software, Quality Control Systems
- Takes responsibility for Personal Development.
- High standard of numeracy.
- Desirable : Member or working towards Chartered Institute Of Purchasing & Supply.
