We are partnering with a listed international natural resources business undergoing a significant finance governance, controls, and policy transformation project across the group. This is not a standard transformation role, nor is it purely a technical accounting position. The business is looking for someone who can bridge technical accounting, governance, finance process improvement, stakeholder engagement, and practical implementation within a complex, regulated environment.
The initial objective is to conduct a gap analysis across the existing finance policy and controls framework before supporting the redesign, enhancement, and implementation of a centralised finance governance manual across the wider finance function. The long-term vision is to create a robust, interconnected finance framework linking accounting policies, controls, procedures, governance standards, and operational guidance into a scalable ‘single source of truth’ for the organisation. This role will suit someone who enjoys operating within ambiguity, engaging with senior stakeholders, and bringing structure to complex finance environments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct gap analysis across existing finance policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Review and enhance technical accounting policies across multiple finance areas
- Support the development of a centralised finance governance manual and policy framework
- Map and improve finance processes and control environments
- Embed preventative and detective controls within procedures and documentation
- Cross-reference accounting policies, controls, operational procedures, and governance standards
- Engage with stakeholders across finance, tax, treasury, FP&A, operations, and risk
- Facilitate workshops and gather operational insight across the business
- Align policies and procedures with ERP systems and finance processes
- Support implementation, adoption, and ongoing governance improvements
We are particularly interested in individuals with a blend of:
- Strong technical accounting capability (IFRS essential)
- Finance transformation, governance, or controls framework experience
- Internal controls / SOX / risk framework exposure
- Experience improving finance processes and operational controls
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively within evolving environments
- Practical and commercially minded approach to problem solving
- Big 4 / Top 20 practice background
- Experience within listed or regulated environments
- Oracle / ERP transformation exposure
- Experience creating or enhancing policy and controls frameworks
- Experience within natural resources or similarly complex regulated environments will be highly advantageous.
This role requires someone who is:
- Technically credible, but not overly theoretical
- Personable and confident engaging stakeholders across the business
- Comfortable challenging existing processes constructively
- Structured, proactive, and able to self-direct
- Able to balance technical depth with practical implementation
If your background aligns strongly with the above and you’re interested in hearing more about this opportunity, we’d be pleased to hear from you. Due to the anticipated volume of applications, we may only be able to respond to candidates who are successfully shortlisted for the next stage of the process.
