Our client is an independent, commercially focussed organisation that specialises in the funding of projects towards a net zero economy. They have a unique strategy deploying capital at pace and scale towards sector specific, real-economy outcomes such as the energy efficiency of buildings.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate in the early stages of their finance career to join a growth business and continue their studies for accounting qualifications.

This role, reporting directly to the Finance Manager, is heavily process-oriented and involves managing all aspects of the accounts payable function. Key responsibilities include processing monthly staff expense claims, reconciling credit card and bank transactions, and assisting the Finance Manager in preparing monthly financial reports.

Key responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Maintain supplier records in the accounting system and ensure new suppliers are onboarded promptly.
  • Purchase orders are monitored on a regular basis and are reviewed at the end of the month to identify any purchase orders that have been open for a long period of time.
  • Payable invoices are checked for accuracy, matched to purchase orders and entered into the system ready for approval.
  • Preparing invoices for payment in monthly payment runs and sending remittance advice to suppliers at the end of the process.
  • Credit card statements are fully reconciled at the end of each statement period, matching receipts to transactions.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with month end accounting processes, including downloading bank statements, completing bank reconciliations, ensuring unreconciled transactions are followed up promptly, reviewing debtors and creditors, etc.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial administration or bookkeeping;
  • Studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification, e.g. AAT;
  • Good working knowledge of basic accounting principles, competent numeracy skills and basic understanding of VAT;
  • Ability to work well and effectively under pressure, well organised and able to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines;
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to develop advanced formulas and functions to manipulate and analyse data;

The role is London based, although a remote-first position, with office days once every 2 weeks.

If this role looks of interest, and you meet the above criteria, we look forward to reviewing your application.
