Company Overview

Our client is a leading payment technology business providing acquiring, orchestration and risk infrastructure to merchants across complex, high growth verticals. Working closely with their commercial and product teams, they help clients scale their payment performance through smarter routing, optimised approval rates and a genuinely consultative approach to account growth.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Account Manager to take full commercial ownership of a portfolio of client accounts, from go live through to long term growth. This is not a relationship management role in the traditional sense; you will be the single internal owner of revenue, performance and commercial terms for every account in your book, expected to actively grow it rather than simply maintain it. You will work closely with product, tech, ops and finance internally to remove blockers, and act as the main point of contact for your clients, ensuring they are getting full value from the platform while consistently identifying new opportunities to increase volume and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own revenue per account, driving volume growth and identifying upsell opportunities across new payment methods, features and products
  • Monitor approval rates, declines, routing efficiency and chargebacks, proactively optimising client performance
  • Enforce agreed pricing, minimums and commercial terms, flagging and escalating any unprofitable or misaligned setups
  • Support commercial renegotiations where needed and ensure billing logic is correctly implemented
  • Own the client journey from signing through go live and into scale, coordinating closely with tech and product to remove blockers
  • Track progress against go live milestones with clear status reporting
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, acting as the single point of contact and ensuring consistent communication
  • Act as the internal commercial owner of each account, aligning product, tech, ops and finance to ensure fast turnaround on client requests
  • Maintain accurate account status reporting covering revenue, stage and any blockers
  • Feed into monthly commercial reporting, tracking KPIs including volume, revenue, approval uplift and activation of new payment methods

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience & Expertise

  • Proven experience in an Account Management or Senior Account Management role within payments, fintech or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of payment performance metrics including approval rates, routing and chargebacks
  • Experience managing commercial terms, pricing structures and renegotiations
  • Comfortable working cross functionally with product, tech, ops and finance teams
  • Experience managing accounts from onboarding through to scale

Skills & Attributes

  • Highly organised with strong ownership instincts, comfortable being the single point of accountability for an account
  • Commercially minded with a genuine drive to grow revenue, not just maintain relationships
  • Confident communicator able to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders without things falling through the cracks
  • Proactive and analytical, comfortable digging into performance data to identify opportunities
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage and prioritise a portfolio of accounts at different stages

What You'll Get

  • £70,000 - £80,000 base salary
  • Hybrid in London or fully remote from Malta
  • Genuine commercial ownership of your own portfolio
  • Exposure to complex, high growth merchant accounts
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior commercial leadership
