A leading organisation within the defence and security sector is seeking a FinOps Specialist to support the optimisation and governance of its growing cloud estate. This is a key role sitting between engineering, finance, and leadership-driving cost efficiency while enabling scalable cloud adoption.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of cloud cost management across primarily AWS environments, ensuring visibility, control, and continuous optimisation. Working closely with engineering and finance teams, you’ll embed FinOps best practices and influence smarter cloud spending decisions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise cloud spend (AWS-focused)
- Build cost visibility dashboards and reporting frameworks
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive implementation
- Partner with engineering teams to improve cost efficiency
- Establish governance, tagging strategies, and budgeting controls
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in FinOps / cloud cost optimisation
- Deep understanding of AWS pricing models and billing
- Experience with cost tools (AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, or similar)
- Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with strong data interpretation skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in large-scale or regulated environments
- Familiarity with Azure or multi-cloud setups
- Knowledge of automation / scripting (Python, etc.)
- FinOps Foundation certification
