The FinOps Engineer role helps deliver FinOps capabilities and outcomes to end clients across public cloud environments. Working with customer stakeholders across technology, operations and finance, the role supports improved visibility, governance, optimisation and value realisation from cloud consumption, aligned to recognised FinOps practices and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver FinOps services and outcomes for customers using a combination of cloud-native capabilities and industry-standard off-the-shelf tooling.
- Improve customer understanding of cloud cost, usage and value through reporting, analysis and insight.
- Support the development of FinOps capabilities such as cost allocation, forecasting, optimisation, governance and commercial control.
- Work with customer teams to identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and strengthen financial accountability.
- Contribute to onboarding, discovery, service improvement and delivery of repeatable FinOps approaches.
- Translate customer requirements into practical FinOps actions and measurable outcomes.
- Contribute to pre-sales activity and new bid opportunities for FinOps services, helping shape customer requirements and support the development of client solutions.
Skills We Can’t Do Without
- Experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, cloud operations or public cloud engineering.
- Good understanding of public cloud cost and consumption models across hyperscaler platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud-native cost management capabilities and industry-standard FinOps tooling.
- Awareness of FinOps Foundation frameworks, principles and domains, and how they are applied in practice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations.
- Able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be eligible for SC clearance.
Desirable
- FinOps Foundation certification is desirable.
- Cloud practitioner-level certifications in AWS, Azure or GCP are also desirable.
- Experience in managed services, customer delivery or multi-cloud environments.
Essential Criteria – BPSS Eligibility
To be eligible for SC clearance, you must have lived and worked in the UK continuously for the past 5 years.
