Field Engineer for the Finning Power Rental team, responsible for electric power projects across the UK and Ireland, setting up rental solutions and ensuring equipment serviceability.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspect, service and maintain rental equipment (generators, transformers, load‑banks, fuel tanks, cables, panels) per maintenance schedules.
- Perform ready‑to‑rent and rental returns processes, recording inspections in the CAT application.
- Set up rental equipment according to customer requirements and project drawings.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems quickly, safely and efficiently.
- Support logistics for inbound/outbound equipment when required.
- Lead site installation, commissioning and decommissioning, including generator synchronization.
- Perform in‑depth repairs on rental equipment.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and conduct timely risk assessments.

- Advanced training in Finning E&T service and maintenance engineering.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Mentor and direct engineering team and sub‑contractors.

Knowledge
- Experience with mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
- Knowledge of the product range across the rental portfolio.
- Understanding of load‑bank setup and testing processes.
Accountability
- Work safely in accordance with QHSSE policies and report near‑misses or incidents without delay.
- Follow the company’s Electrical Safety Policy.
Education & Experience
- Apprenticeship trained, NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical or Electronic) or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Driver’s licence with at least 2 years driving history.
- 5+ years experience in the rental energy sector or a similar role.
- Further mechanical and/or electronic engineering qualifications preferred.
- Safe Pass (ROI) or CSCS (UK) required.
- Offshore certifications where required.
- Demonstrated competence at Level 1 Engineer skill level.
