As a Mobile Engineer for Finning Power Rental, you will work on a wide range of electric power projects across the UK and Ireland. Your primary responsibility will be to set up rental solutions and ensure rental equipment—including generators, load‑banks, transformers, fuel tanks, and ancillaries—are maintained in a serviceable condition to support our customers.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, service and maintain rental equipment (generators, transports, fuel tanks, load banks, cables, panels) in line with maintenance schedules.
- Complete the ready‑to‑rent task and document inspection data in the CAT inspection application.
- Execute the rental returns process and record inspection and data in the CAT inspection application.
- Set up rental equipment according to customer requirements and project drawings from the Application Engineering team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems on equipment quickly, safely, and efficiently.
- Provide logistical support for inbound and outbound equipment when required.
- Lead the site installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of rental solutions, including synchronisation of multiple generators.
- Perform in‑depth repairs on rental equipment.
- Ensure full adherence to all Health & Safety policies, including Logincident and pre‑task risk assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Apprenticeship trained, NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical or Electronic) or equivalent.
- 5 years’ plus experience in the rental energy sector or a similar role.
- Proven track record of hands‑on field experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical faults.
- Driver’s licence with at least 2 years of full driving history.
- Safe Pass (ROI) or CSCS (UK) certification required; offshore certifications where required.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and rental equipment portfolio.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
