The Technical Assessor / Tutor will focus primarily on assessment, where you will support apprentices to develop occupational competence and achieve End Point Assessment (EPA) readiness. Working closely with employers, trainers and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring apprentices make strong progress, receive high-quality feedback, and successfully complete their programmes. Key Responsibilities:- Assess apprentices against apprenticeship standards (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours) and occupational qualifications
- Conduct workplace observations, professional discussions and evidence reviews
- Deliver structured progress reviews, setting clear targets and tracking learner development
- Provide constructive feedback to support improvement and EPA readiness
- Support apprentices with targeted technical tutoring where gaps are identified
- Support technical training delivery as a secondary or supporting tutor
- Prepare learners for EPA and determine gateway readiness in collaboration with employers
- Deliver engaging PHSE sessions to support personal development and workplace behaviours
- Maintain accurate records within e-portfolio and MIS systems
- Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, awarding organisations and quality standards
- Escalate safeguarding or wellbeing concerns in line with procedures
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Plant or Service discipline
- Minimum 4 years’ industry experience
- Assessor qualification (TAQA / A1) or willingness to achieve
- Experience assessing occupational competence in the workplace
- Apprenticeship or EPA experience
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
- Understanding of apprenticeship standards and assessment practices
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- Ability to challenge and support learners to achieve their potential
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident using digital systems (e-portfolio / MIS)
- Knowledge of ESFA funding rules, Ofsted expectations and safeguarding principles
