We are looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team on a 9 month fixed term contract. The Buyer will play a key role in ensuring that business needs for goods and services are met efficiently and in line with procurement policies.
The Buyer will contribute to strategic sourcing, drive compliance, and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Manage requisitions and ad-hoc procurement requests in line with agreed service levels.
- Source goods and services to deliver best value, balancing cost, lead time, and business priorities.
- Support departmental KPIs including: Spend Under Control; Under Contract; Preferred Suppliers; Programmes of Work.
- Collaborate with Category Managers to support category strategies and execute subcategory tenders.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and select the most suitable procurement methods.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure business needs are consistently met.
- Maintain procurement systems such as SAP Ariba and contribute to process improvements.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a buying or procurement role.
- Experience of engineering procurement and project buying.
- Progress toward or completion of MCIPS is desirable.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and remain calm under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience with SAP Ariba is a distinct advantage.
- Ability to interpret business needs and develop clear specifications and RFx documents.
- A collaborative mindset and the creativity to solve problems and drive value.
