As a field service engineer in the EP Team, you will respond to customers’ field repair and service requests, diagnose problems, and provide comprehensive detail to the customer and Finning. This enables creation of a quote as requested by the customer in a cost- and time-effective manner, while ensuring the maintenance and repair of diesel and gas-powered generators from Caterpillar.

Major Job Functions:
- Provide an estimate of arrival time at customer’s site based on branch instructions.
- Contact customer’s site management to register arrival and ensure knowledge of site procedures.
- Diagnose equipment problems with operators, provide information for required work, and prepare details for Finning’s quote.
- Identify required parts, requisition them, and determine delivery times for any re-visits.
- Carry out repair and service work, remove and dispatch components for specialist attention, reinstall originals or replacements, and bring the machine up to required standards.

Accountability:
- Undertake a local site risk assessment before commencing work.
- Prepare an appropriate method statement in line with standard procedures and discuss site conditions with customer or Finning supervisor to meet health and safety requirements.
- Inspect and test finished machines to ensure expected performance, reporting defects or suspect conditions to the customer.
- Complete service reports and warranty documentation to enable correct and timely charging to customer and suppliers, ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies.
Education and Experience:
- LDV driving licence.
- Formally apprenticed with NVQ Level 3 and served as an engineer in a relevant industry such as Electric Power, Power Generation, or Marine.
- Experience with a variety of heavy diesel and gas-powered power generation equipment.
