Position: Rebuild Repair Engineer (Permanent)
Job Overview
Working within Finning’s industry‐leading workshop environment, you will carry out reconditioning, repairs and maintenance on Caterpillar Construction Equipment. Your responsibilities include supporting 2nd life overhauls and ensuring machines meet Finning standards and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed inspections to confirm or expand on field inspection reports, enabling accurate commercial assessments of repair or refurbishment work.
- Carry out diagnosis tests on machine components to support cost evaluations and determine warranty or service eligibility.
- Produce comprehensive lists of parts and materials required for proposed machine preparation work.
- Perform overhaul, repair or refurbishment work on machines according to agreed work plans, removing and dispatching components as needed and reinstalling original or replacement parts.
- Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they operate to expected performance levels.
- Adhere to agreed job times, maintain high quality on finished machines, and keep machine stock ready for hire.
- Ensure safety compliance and work within SHEQ obligations to achieve zero accidents.
Qualifications & Experience
- Preferably with a background in plant machinery or similar industries (e.g., HGV, agriculture).
- Either apprentice trained or minimum five years’ experience in a quality service environment within a similar industry.
- A licence to drive reach trucks is required.
- Practical experience operating construction equipment in confined spaces and performing mechanical fitting work on large‑scale machines.
