Field Service Manager

Finning (UK) Ltd – Cannock, Staffordshire – Permanent Position.

Overview

Lead Finning UK's Service Operations across the West Midlands region, supporting customers on key infrastructure projects including the landmark HS2 project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Finning UK's Service Operations (20%) – Manage resources, operational costs and workforce planning to deliver exceptional customer service, strong business performance and sustainable growth.
• Drive a High-Performing Service Culture (15%) – Create and lead a service culture centred on customer excellence, collaboration and accountability.
• Deliver Outstanding Customer Experience (20%) – Champion a customer‑first approach across all areas of responsibility, ensuring a high‑quality service experience.
• Lead Safety, Quality and Operational Excellence (20%) – Act as a visible leader for Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards, promote a positive safety culture and embed operational excellence.
• Deliver Commercial Performance (15%) – Take accountability for the financial performance of the Cannock service operation, drive profitability through effective management of service work‑in‑progress, labour utilisation, cost control and dispute resolution.
• Develop and Inspire People (10%) – Lead, coach and develop a team of Service Controllers and Field Engineers, build leadership capability and create an environment where employees can realise their full potential.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in a field service, workshop management or engineering leadership role.
• Strong financial management and budget control experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Experience within heavy equipment, construction, industrial or engineering sectors is desirable.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive problem‑solving and solutions‑focused approach.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Highly organised with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
• Commercially aware with strong numerical and analytical capability.
• Knowledge of engineering service operations and associated cost and revenue drivers.
• Experience managing budgets, financial controls and operational performance metrics.
• Knowledge of heavy plant equipment or related industries.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and business systems.
• Knowledge of the Caterpillar product range would be advantageous.
