The London office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Patent Legal Assistant.
Responsibilities include:
- Utilise knowledge of patent filing requirements and regulations to prepare and complete patent office filings; conduct research to determine requirements for filings when needed.
- Liaise with clients and patent office personnel, following up with attorneys and taking appropriate action as necessary.
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, staff and patent offices to coordinate European and foreign patent filings, including formalities such as reporting, official correspondence and reporting issued patents.
- Respond effectively to communications from clients/foreign counsel/attorneys/patent office personnel.
- Utilise patent office electronic filing resources and websites effectively.
- Perform research related to patent applications and filings.
- Maintain accurate case data to review and clear docket daily, ensuring correctness of entries and completeness of information.
- Perform varied administrative tasks as needed, including processing client-billable and firm invoices.
- Use knowledge of clients’ needs to input data and generate reports for clients and attorneys.
- Review docket communications and provide updates daily to keep attorneys and others informed of deadlines.
- Manage and prioritize tasks by maintaining familiarity with attorney workloads, schedules, and projects.
- Support US-based departments and interact effectively with them.
- Process incoming correspondence promptly.
- Maintain client files (electronic and paper) to a high standard.
- Draft correspondence and documents for clients and other parties.
- Assist in defining and implementing office workflows and participate in firm projects.
- Refer issues to Office Administrator as necessary.
