Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Sprayer role based in Hawick. The Sprayer will be responsible for preparing timber windows and doors for finishing, including sanding, masking, and cleaning surfaces. Day-to-day tasks include mixing and applying paints, stains, and coatings using spray equipment, ensuring accurate color, coverage, and finish quality. The Sprayer will inspect completed work, carry out touch‑ups where required, and maintain clean, safe, and organized spray booths and work areas. The role also involves routine equipment checks, basic maintenance of spraying tools, and following all health and safety procedures, including correct handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment. Collaboration with production and joinery teams to meet schedules and quality standards is a key part of this position.

Qualifications

  • Experience in spray painting or finishing, preferably with timber windows, doors, or similar joinery products.
  • Knowledge of different coatings, paints, and stains, including correct preparation, mixing, and application methods.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to achieve consistent, high‑quality finishes and identify defects or imperfections.
  • Understanding of workshop health and safety practices, including safe use of spray equipment, ventilation, and PPE.
  • Ability to read and follow job instructions, production schedules, and basic technical specifications.
  • Good manual dexterity, stamina for standing and handling materials throughout the shift, and comfort working in a workshop environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a reliable and punctual approach to work.
  • Previous experience in a joinery, manufacturing, or woodworking environment is desirable but not essential.
