FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading integrated design and build contractor in the water sector for a Senior Project Manager to strengthen their Construction and Project Delivery teams. Following the award of major AMP8 framework projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation delivering essential infrastructure projects across the North West region. Senior Project Manager Role

  • Reporting to the Head of Construction or Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of major projects within the AMP8 framework.
  • You will oversee the direction, coordination and execution of projects from inception through to completion and handover.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, to specification, within programme and in line with commercial targets.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Promote exceptional safety standards and high-quality delivery across all site activities.
  • Ensure the Business Management System (BMS) is applied throughout all stages of project delivery.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, joint venture partners, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Plan, review and manage project delivery including approval of Project Execution Plans (PEPs).
  • Ensure detailed project plans, method statements and risk assessments are prepared and approved prior to commencement.
  • Monitor project progress, performance and resource allocation to ensure delivery against targets.
  • Manage all commercial aspects including forecasting, reporting, budgeting and cost control.
  • Identify, manage and report non-conformities and associated risks or costs.
  • Ensure all project records and documentation are complete and available at handover.
  • Lead governance reviews and provide regular project updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within project teams.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of technical disciplines associated with water and wastewater design and build projects.
  • Ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded to maintain high satisfaction levels.

Senior Project Manager Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering multidisciplinary construction and engineering projects, ideally within the water sector.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in construction, engineering or commercial discipline.
  • Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience delivering projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness including budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts including NEC and/or IChemE.
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to lead governance reviews and present at senior-level project meetings.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Chartered status with a recognised engineering, construction or commercial institution.
  • NEC Project Manager Accreditation.
  • Experience managing commissioning, testing and handover phases.
