Technical Manager

Industry Sector: Passive Fire Protection, Fire stopping, Fire Compartmentation, Building Envelope, Cladding, Curtain Walling, Facades Specialist

Essential Requirement: Travel in the London area up to 4 days a week with occasional travel to Ireland. When not on site visits, you’ll be working from home.

  • Technical Manager Responsibilities:

  • To provide technical expertise, constructive guidance, and commercial viability to clients and internally to our sales and specification teams.
  • To give technical advice on all existing and new fire-resistant products and solutions, which can be supplied by the company, to architects, installers, authorities, contractors, clients, and fire departments on major projects.
  • Maintain an awareness of new products, developments, and legislative national guidance changes in passive fire protection industry and ensure effective communication and implementation that may impact the organisation.
  • Assist with the production of typical product/installation details through CAD drawings.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to identify deficiencies in our range of tested solutions and new opportunities our products may be developed for.
  • To establish and maintain a good working relationship with a network of architects, specifiers, contractors, installers, dealers, fire departments and other industry influencers to become the preferential partner with regard to fire protection and to meet other established goals.
  • Organising and participating in site visits to assist customers to overcome project-specific issues as required.
  • Checking and approving documents and drawings produced by others to align with our installation procedures.
  • Participating in development of Company standards and procedures.
  • Manage a small team of passive fire protection surveyors.
  • Desirable Skills and abilities:

  • Experienced in Passive Fire Protection products systems and installation methodologies.
  • Providing demonstrable knowledge of standards applicable to passive fire protection industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current fire safety legislation, and associated guidance documents.
  • Ability to read architectural or CAD drawing.
  • Computer literate (MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel & Word)
  • Experience liaising with all industries in the passive fire protection.
  • Experience in conducting training sessions and public presentations.
  • Experience in preparing Site Reports.
