Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a project based in Reading. This is a contract position offering hybrid working. The role will involve cost control, procurement, reporting, and cash management, working closely with the wider project team to ensure strong commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and manage the commercial aspects of the project
- Populate and maintain monthly commercial reports, including CVR and DES
- Prepare and submit Applications for Payment (AFP) to the client
- Carry out project procurement activities in line with programme requirements
- Assess supply chain applications for payment
- Assist in compiling and agreeing final accounts
- Monitor costs, manage budgets, and support value engineering initiatives
- Identify and help mitigate commercial and contractual risks
- Support the maximisation of cash flow and cash collection
- Manage variations and change control processes
- Maintain accurate cost forecasting and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience with commercial reporting, procurement, and cost control
- Understanding of supply chain management and final accounts
- Knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar (RICS accreditation desirable)
