Night Supervisor – Highways & Drainage
Salary: DOE, £45-50k per annum
Locations: Waltham Abbey, Oxfordshire, Northampton and Derby.
Hours: Night shifts (8am-6pm)
About the Role: Finlay Jude Associates are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drainage Supervisor to lead our client\’s teams during critical night operations across highways and drainage projects. You will be responsible for overseeing site activities, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating with traffic management teams, and delivering high-quality work within deadlines. This role is pivotal in maintaining smooth, safe, and efficient night operations on live highways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage site teams during night shifts, ensuring all activities comply with health & safety regulations and company standards
- Coordinate traffic management to ensure safe working zones and minimal disruption to road users
- Oversee drainage installation, repair, and maintenance works, ensuring quality and adherence to project specifications
- Monitor progress and report to senior management, identifying and resolving issues proactively
- Ensure all site documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and completed promptly
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships
- Implement risk assessments and method statements, ensuring all team members understand their roles and responsibilities
Candidate Profile:
- Extensive supervisory experience within highways, drainage, or civil engineering projects
- In-depth knowledge of drainage systems and installation methods (essential)
- Strong understanding of traffic management and working safely on live highways
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams during night shifts
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Ability to travel and work across Waltham Abbey, Oxford, and the Midlands
