FJA is collaborating with a leading national training provider in the utility sector to recruit an ambitious individual ready to advance their career and become a qualified Mains and Service Laying Trainer.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a water industry background with occupational experience in water operations, along with hands-on experience within the water industry.
This position is based in the Peterborough region and requires travel across the UK.

Mains and Service Laying Trainer.role:

  • We are seeking a motivated and professional Trainer/Assessor with a strong background in the water industry, particularly in mains and service laying, repair, and maintenance. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, ideally with experience in training and assessing qualifications.
  • This role involves delivering high-quality training to a wide range of learners, including apprentices, both at our Peterborough offices and across customer sites. The Trainer/Assessor will also contribute to maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring training programmes meet industry standards.

Mains and Service Laying Trainer responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality training programmes.
  • Build and design training packages based on clear learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Assess learners both in-centre and in the workplace.
  • Support standardisation of qualifications across the team.
  • Deliver quality learning packages to meet measured standards.
  • Develop training resources to achieve specified objectives and outcomes.
  • Promote best practice in training and assessment.
  • Conduct observations of learners in-centre and in the workplace.
  • Assess evidence produced by learners against learning outcomes.
  • Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in standardisation activities as part of the assessment team.
  • Liaise with Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs).
  • Achieve and maintain an individual utilisation target of 80%.

Mains and Service Laying Trainer requirements:

  • Relevant water industry qualifications.
  • English and Maths (minimum Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Understanding and practical application of health and safety.
