Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a project based in Reading. This is a contract position offering hybrid working. The role will involve cost control, procurement, reporting, and cash management, working closely with the wider project team to ensure strong commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the commercial aspects of the project
  • Populate and maintain monthly commercial reports, including CVR and DES
  • Prepare and submit Applications for Payment (AFP) to the client
  • Carry out project procurement activities in line with programme requirements
  • Assess supply chain applications for payment
  • Assist in compiling and agreeing final accounts
  • Monitor costs, manage budgets, and support value engineering initiatives
  • Identify and help mitigate commercial and contractual risks
  • Support the maximisation of cash flow and cash collection
  • Manage variations and change control processes
  • Maintain accurate cost forecasting and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience with commercial reporting, procurement, and cost control
  • Understanding of supply chain management and final accounts
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar (RICS accreditation desirable)
