Finlay Jude Associates are working in partnership with a major water utilities organisation to recruit experienced Leakage Technicians to support nationwide leak detection activities. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled field professionals who enjoy problem-solving, working outdoors, and playing a vital role in protecting the UK’s water network.
As a Leakage Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality leak detection services across a variety of networks and projects, using specialist equipment and proven methodologies to identify and minimise water loss.
The Role
You will carry out proactive and reactive leak detection across the network, supporting operational teams and contributing to wider leakage reduction programmes. The role will involve both routine detection work and more complex survey activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day leak detection activities across assigned areas
- Undertake specialist survey and project work beyond routine leak detection
- Support repair teams by accurately pinpointing leaks
- Conduct detailed surveys on large diameter mains to identify leak type and location
- Carry out Step Testing within DMAs to identify areas of high leakage
- Assist with trunk mains investigations, validation, and seepage activities (where required)
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including timesheets, survey reports, and leak records
- Use specialist detection equipment effectively and safely
- Work night shifts when required to support Step Testing activities
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality at all times
About You
Essential
- Proven experience in leak detection within the water industry
- Proficient in using leak detection equipment, including:
- Correlator
- Pipe Tracer
- Ground Microphone
- Listening Stick
Desirable
- Experience with Step Testing, Trunk Mains, Validation, or Seepage
- EUSR Water Hygiene Training
- Unit 2 Street Works
