Finlay Jude Associates are working with a leading organisation within the water and wastewater sector to recruit a Water Sampling Technician on a part‑time (25 hours per week), 3‑month Fixed‑Term Contract, with the potential for extension. You will be responsible for collecting water quality samples from service reservoirs, treatment works and consumer properties, while ensuring compliance with strict quality and safety standards.

Water Sampling Technician Responsibilities
  • Collecting chemical and bacteriological samples from service reservoirs, treatment works and consumer taps
  • Occasionally collecting samples from wastewater treatment sites
  • Carrying out on‑site chlorine testing and temperature monitoring
  • Completing quality assurance documentation and maintaining sample chain‑of‑custody records
  • Returning samples to laboratories within agreed timescales
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards
  • Delivering excellent customer service while working across a variety of operational sites
  • Supporting colleagues with sample transfers between operational locations where required
  • Adhering to site‑specific health, safety and environmental requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel throughout the Belfast area
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and safe working practices
  • Good written, numerical and IT skills
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Flexible approach to work with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer‑focused attitude with strong communication skills
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory drug and alcohol testing
Desirable (but not Essential)
  • Previous water or environmental sampling experience
  • Experience working within the utilities, water or wastewater sectors
  • Knowledge of water quality sampling procedures
  • Health & Safety Qualifications Or Related Vocational Training
  • Experience completing quality assurance or compliance documentation
Working Hours & Location

This position is based in Belfast and involves regular travel to operational sites throughout the region. The role is contracted at 25 hours per week, with flexibility required to accommodate operational requirements, including occasional early starts or night work. This is predominantly a field‑based role, with minimal office attendance required. Please note that this role involves working in environments where wastewater and sewage may be present. Appropriate PPE will be provided. The position also requires occasional manual handling activities, including lifting inspection chamber covers, and is subject to pre‑employment screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
