- HV /
- Electrical Coordinator
(High Voltage) to help safely deliver the Southern Water Amp 8 Waste and Water programmes in the Southampton area.
The
HV / Electrical Coordinator will be required to oversee electrical safety during the construction and Commissioning of critical Water and Wastewater infrastructure.
They must ensure compliance with Statutory regulations, Industry Standards and Policies and Procedures.
You will report directly to the parent company Designated Individuals and will be the regional electrical H&S management focal point to maintain standards and compliance.

Responsibilities in the role of
HV / Electrical Coordinator
- Administration of the electrical safety rules and maintenance of rules in line with legislative, regulatory or industry changes.
- Monitor use of the LV/HV Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring that any amendments to the LV/HV Electrical Safety Rules are brought to the attention of, and are understood by all
- Providing Technical & Quality support for Project, M&E, and Site Managers
- Management of subcontractors to ensure they meet safety, quality and design requirements
- Act as the central figure Supporting the area H&S team in matters of electrical safety.
- Ensure that the project resources and competencies are reviewed ensuring that there is the appropriate level of Permit issuers in place
- Identify Process areas that will need to have independent Hazard Studies performed and ensure that these hold points are articulated in the programme
- Involvement with key stakeholders for related Safe Systems of Work such as Hydraulics and ATEX/DSEAR.
- Attendance on Parent Company Authorising Engineer review panels.
- Work in close alignment with the SHEQ team for incident investigations.
- Providing professional and technical guidance on electrical construction & electrical contracting delivery.
- Oversee documentation, inspection, and testing procedures to maintain project quality.
- Review and input into the quality plan.
- Undertake Authorised Person audits.
- Works with procurement staff to assist in the competence vetting of supply chain partners.
- Working with our supply chains in areas of quality management and review and comment upon NICEIC and BS7671 model forms of certification.
- Actively engage in commissioning quality.
- Provide regular feedback to the Framework Commissioning Manager / Framework MEICA manager any potential project challenges.
- Deliver technical bulletins, toolbox talks and briefings, responding to incidents or observations, and keeping procedures aligned to current guidance and industry practice.
- Identify competencies for key project players and understand using GAP analysis potential project specific training requirements.
- Required experience for the
HV / Electrical Coordinator
- On-site experience within the Electrical Installation industry.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience of working as an Authorising Engineer or an experienced Authorised Persons 5+ years.
- HND, HNC, C+G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Good technical background with respect to Low Voltage systems (BS7671) and earthing systems (BS7430)
- HV awareness, knowledge of switching schedules, equipment, fault currents, signal injection and Safe systems of works.
- Experienced in verifying safe systems of work.
- Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of UK health and safety legislation and an ability to carry out risk assessments and propose actions for risk control/management
- IET Wiring Regulation - 18 th
Edition certification.
- Knowledge of PUWER regulations, Portable appliance testing and COSHH.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EAWR 1989
