The Role
We’re looking for a brilliant Trainee SENCO to lead and champion inclusive practice across the nursery.
- Leading SEND provision across the nursery
- Supporting children with additional needs to thrive
- Coaching practitioners on inclusive practice
- Building strong relationships with families
- Working with external professionals (health visitors, LA, specialists)
- Managing support plans, observations, and next steps
- Keeping documentation accurate and compliant

Ideal Candidate
- Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification
- SENCO qualification (desired or willing to undertake training)
- Strong understanding of EYFS & SEND & Local Authority
- Good organisational skills and time management
You are a patient, proactive, solution‑focused, passionate about inclusion. You are confident working with families and professionals, organised and able to manage multiple priorities, and a team player with a positive attitude.
What your day might look like
Sample schedule:
- 7:50am – Arrive, coffee, team catch‑up;
- 8:30am – Support children and check in on key needs;
- 9:30am – Observe, assess, guide staff;
- 10:30am – Parent meeting;
- 11:30am – Update plans and records;
- 12:00pm – Lunch;
- 12:30pm – Liaise with professionals / referrals;
- 1:30pm – Support practice in rooms;
- 3:00pm – Review progress and next steps;
- 4:30pm – Team check‑in;
- 6:00pm – Head home.
