As Finisterre continues to grow and reach new markets, we are focused on strengthening the way we develop and deliver our products globally. We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Compliance team as part of our wider Product team. Along with our Head of Technical & Compliance, you will ensure every Finisterre product meets international regulatory standards, giving our customers complete confidence in what they wear or use. From first concept to final production, you will help guarantee our products fit for purpose, safe, compliant wherever they are sold in the world. If you thrive in a fast-moving environment, take pride in precision, and care about upholding the highest standards, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a purpose-led brand.

About Finisterre: Born two decades ago from the needs of hardy British surfers, Finisterre creates enduring outdoor wear for an inspired life in and around the ocean. Proudly B Corp certified, we have committed to a deep belief: to make truly exceptional products in a more responsible and transparent way. Whether based at our cliff top headquarters in St. Agnes, Cornwall, or in one of our retail locations across the UK, Finisterre is a truly unique brand and career proposition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Own and maintain Finisterre's global compliance roadmap, ensuring all products meet applicable UK, EU, US and international regulatory requirements. Monitor and interpret emerging legislation across operating and prospective territories, proactively assessing business impact and driving implementation plans. Provide regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams, embedding compliance requirements from concept through to production.
  • Brand Certification: Project manage all brand and product certification processes, partnering with the Head of Technical & Compliance and Head of Impact where required. Ensure all required certifications and compliance documentation are accurate, up to date, and stored within the PLM system in line with critical path and wholesale deadlines. Work closely with Impact and Raw Materials teams to validate sustainability claims (e.g. organic, recycled), ensuring robust documentation and audit readiness.
  • Digital Product Passports & Traceability: Support Digital Product Passport (DPP) initiatives working with Buying & Impact, to build out our traceability journey. Establish and maintain internal SOPs for data collection, validation, and ongoing compliance in line with published DPP regulations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with the Head of Technical & Compliance on regulatory strategy, risk management, and long-term compliance planning. Collaborate with Product Development on territory-specific labelling requirements, including translations, safety warnings, and material declarations. Deliver compliance training and guidance to the wider Product team to ensure seamless adoption of evolving regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in a product compliance or regulatory role within apparel.
  • Proven experience managing product compliance across multiple territories (UK, EU and US preferred).
  • Working knowledge of key regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience implementing product certification processes.
  • Practical experience managing compliance documentation within PLM or similar system.
  • Experience working in-person and virtually with suppliers.
  • Exposure to horizon scanning and assessing the impact of new or evolving regulation.
  • Confident interpreting legislation and translating regulatory requirements into clear internal actions.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines within a critical path.
  • Comfortable working with digital systems and data management platforms (experience with Digital Product Passports or traceability platforms advantageous).
  • Pro-active and solutions focused, with confidence to raise risk appropriately.
  • Strong cross-functional communicator, able to work effectively with Product and Impact teams and external partners.

Important: The successful candidate must, by the start of their employment, have permission to work in the UK. Please note that Finisterre are not licensed to sponsor overseas workers.

Benefits:

  • We are offering a full time, permanent contract, based at our Headquarters at Wheal Kitty, St Agnes, Cornwall.
  • Competitive salary, circa £32,000 - £35,000, depending on your skills and experience.
  • 25 days holiday per year, plus up to 8 UK bank holidays (pro rata for part time employees).
  • Additional holidays for length of service.
  • Your birthday day off.
  • Up to 3 days of paid volunteering.
  • A discretionary bonus scheme, based on company performance.
  • A pension scheme with Nest.
  • 60% product discount for personal and gift use.
  • 30% Friends and Family product discount.
  • Enhanced Family Leave policies.
  • Life assurance with access to an online wellbeing platform.
  • Access to a range of wellbeing resources.
  • Regular company and team social events.
  • Various discounts from our B Corp community.
  • Access our online Learning Library and company-wide training sessions.
  • An hour to spend in or by the sea every Tuesday followed by Sea Tuesday companywide meeting.
