An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and inspirational leader to work closely with the Headteacher and Governors of our thriving and successful school. The Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and suitably qualified SENCO to lead within our Resource Provision. This role carries strategic and operational responsibility for the leadership, development and impact of the school’s Specialist Resource Provision. It is a key role for a skilled professional who is passionate about inclusive practice and committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils with high levels of need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Specialist Resource Provision.
  • Develop, manage and further improve curriculum, staffing, assessment and overall impact of the provision.
  • Lead the school’s SENCO, working closely with the Headteacher, Governors and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Ensure effective shared leadership across SEND and inclusion, partnering with the current SENCO.
  • Support integration pathways for pupils into mainstream education where appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant knowledge and experience of working with children with EHCPs.
  • Specialist expertise or strong knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Communication & Interaction needs.
  • Proven track record of raising standards for pupils with SEND, particularly those with EHCPs.
  • Experience leading and developing staff teams to deliver high-quality provision.
  • Strong knowledge of working with external professionals across the spectrum of support services.
  • Willingness to contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Specialist Resource Provision

  • Oversee wellbeing and teaching quality within the provision.
  • Design individualised curriculum and targeted interventions.
  • Lead staff deployment and provide professional development.
  • Plan integration and inclusion pathways into mainstream education where suitable.
  • Maintain a calm, low-arousal, communication-friendly environment with high adult-to-pupil ratios and carefully designed sensory spaces.
  • Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
