About Finest Foods
Finest Foods is a specialist supplier to the UK foodservice market. We source, develop, and market a wide range of branded and private-label frozen and ambient products for wholesalers, distributors, chains and franchises across the UK and Ireland. After significant growth, we are expanding our sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic company and drive your career forward in the food industry.
You will manage your own territory but will also be expected to travel further afield when required for key opportunities, larger accounts, or industry events. This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships face-to-face, and taking full ownership of their sales pipeline.
What the Role Really Looks Like:
- 3–5 days per week spent visiting customers and prospects
- Regular travel across your region, with occasional nationwide travel
- A mix of pre-booked meetings and proactive “on-the-door” prospecting
- Managing your own diary, routes, and territory strategy
- Building relationships with wholesalers, distributors, and foodservice operators
Key Responsibilities
- Drive New Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the foodservice, hospitality, and wholesale channels. This includes prospecting leads, cold visits/calls, and pitching our product range to win new customers.
- Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring exceptional service. You’ll regularly visit and consult with customers to understand their needs, increase order volumes, and introduce new products.
- Achieve Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed your sales targets and KPIs, as set by the Sales Manager. You will also monitor your progress and proactively adjust your approach to ensure quarterly and annual goals are achieved.
- Territory Planning: Manage a regional territory efficiently. Plan your field visits and route to maximize productivity. Attend on-site client meetings daily and some occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Negotiation & Closing: Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations. Negotiate pricing and contract terms with decision-makers, and successfully close deals that are profitable and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Market Intelligence: Stay alert to market trends and competitor offerings in your territory. Share insights with the team to help refine the sales strategy. You’ll represent Finest Foods at industry events or food shows on occasion, networking to expand our presence.
- Reporting & Administration: Keep accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline opportunities using our CRM system. Submit weekly sales reports and forecasts to the Sales Manager and coordinate with our customer service and distribution teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment for your clients.
About You – Qualifications & Skills
- Sales Experience: Proven B2B sales experience (3+ years) is required, ideally in foodservice, FMCG, or a wholesale environment. You have a track record of meeting sales targets and growing a customer base (experience in the food/drink industry is a strong plus).
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanour. You are persuasive and confident in negotiations, able to build rapport quickly and influence stakeholders at all levels (from chefs and buyers to business owners).
- Relationship Builder: A genuine people-person who excels at relationship management and customer service. You take pride in being a trusted advisor to your clients, helping their businesses succeed through the products and solutions you provide.
- Self-Motivated & Organised: Highly self-driven and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently in the field. You manage your time effectively and can juggle multiple priorities. Solid organisational skills are a must, from planning your schedule to keeping account notes up to date.
- Analytical & Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using data and digital tools to drive sales. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experienced with CRM software for logging activities and analysing your sales pipeline. You use a data-informed approach to identify trends or opportunities.
- Knowledge & Passion: Passion for food and an interest in culinary trends will be beneficial. You quickly learn product details and enjoy staying informed about the food industry.
- Other Requirements: Valid UK driving licence (essential for a field-based role). Willingness to travel daily within the territory. Eligibility to work in the UK.
