We are currently recruiting an experienced Interim Financial Accountant (Capital) to join a busy NHS finance team on a short-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant with a strong understanding of NHS capital accounting to make an immediate impact during a crucial reporting period.
The role will be for 3 months with an option for extension and will be at interim day rates under the NHS Agency Cap at Band 7/8a.
Key responsibilities:- Support the capital accounting function, ensuring compliance with NHS accounting standards and policies;
- Assist in month-end and year-end reporting, including capital accruals, asset verification, and depreciation calculations;
- Prepare and review capital forecasts and financial returns;
- Liaise with project managers, estates, and procurement to track capital schemes and ensure accurate financial reporting;
- Provide support during audit processes and respond to queries related to capital expenditure and fixed assets.
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA);
- Recent experience in an NHS finance team, with specific exposure to capital accounting;
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with NHS financial systems (e.g. Oracle, SBS, etc.);
- Ability to hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision.
