Finegreen are supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of an experienced Sustainability/Net Zero professional to develop and deliver the Trusts decarbonisation agenda and related matters. Key Responsibilities: Drive transformational change in sustainability and Net Zero agenda, a passion for sustainability and the drive to make a difference; Be the Trust-wide lead and provide expert knowledge on all aspects of environmental sustainability which will require making judgments involving complex facts or a situation which relate to environmental sustainability – requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options; Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration across the Trust estate. Responsible for building a best-in-class energy management approach, providing technical guidance and delivery of the Trust’s Green Plan; Development of long-term sustainable efficiency saving strategy linked to a programme of energy reduction initiatives to cut energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. Establish detailed energy reduction action plans and renewable energy generation plans with long, medium, and short-term goals; Develop and implement behavioural change initiatives to improve awareness and reduce energy usage; Act as corporate lead in relation to energy procurement and management, working with procurement teams to achieve best value for money in the purchase of utilities and renewal of energy supply contracts. Deliver energy efficiency and carbon reduction in line with the NHS England Estates ‘Net Zero’ Carbon Delivery Plan. To meet the commitments laid out in the NHS’s decarbonisation strategy (as set out in the ‘Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service’ report) and in line with the Trusts net-zero carbon reduction targets. Ideal Candidate: Degree (or equivalent specialist knowledge) in a science, environmental or other relevant discipline. Chartered Member of a relevant professional body such as IEMA Sustainability/Waste/Energy/Facilities Management qualification; Specialist knowledge of sustainability and environmental management; Experience of public sector tendering for service contractors – and experience of the OJEU Procurement Process.
