North London Hospice is a registered charity that has been caring for local people since 1984. We are committed to empowering patients with life-limiting illnesses, supporting them to achieve the best quality of life possible. We welcome people from all faiths and communities within the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey and also provide some services in Camden and Islington too.

We provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to patients and families, friends, and carers. Everyone is treated as an individual and our multi-professional team consists of specially trained doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, counsellors, and chaplains. Everyone working at North London Hospice is committed to ensuring that patients receive our full support, enabling them to choose how they receive our care. Our goal is to help patients live life to the full despite their illness.

As a registered Nurse, this post is one of four Heads of Service and will be working very collaboratively with your counterpart covering the West Locations. You will hold responsibility for all NLH teams working out of the Winchmore Hill site (Enfield and Haringey Community specialist Palliative Care Teams and the Clinic and Outreach Service). Your role will be to engage strategically with the other Heads of Service in weekly meetings whilst providing direction to the teams at the Winchmore Hill site to understand how their role fits into our culture and ways of working that are continually being developed, to provide the best care to those that need our services.

In reality this means you will be supporting the two enhanced Palliative Clinical Nurse Specialists with the day to day running of their teams as well as working closely with the Community Administrator and Clinical Out Reach Manager to deliver services on site and in the wider community. The Clinical Strategy for the next two years is to increase our reach into our most deprived neighbourhoods, developing new ways of working with the teams already serving those neighbourhoods. This role will be integral in developing the relationships in the wider community and supporting teams used to working from one site to spread their wings and deliver from a range of sites.

This can be a development role for an individual that has a passion for leadership in an environment that really does put patients and their carers, families first to ensure that they can achieve the best quality of life possible. You will be supported in your career, with an organisation that really will recognise you and enable you to be the best you can be, with regular supervision and leadership development work with the Director of Patient Services and Quality.

This is a time of great positive change for the teams under your care who require compassionate leadership to guide and support them at this time.
