We are engaged in the design and manufacture of products for some of the world's leading companies in their market space, operating across multiple sectors from military to healthcare. We develop strategic partnerships with customers and are often the supplier of choice as we work with our customers to develop new products and solutions to solve their problems. The business has recently gone through a change of ownership and is looking to develop and grow from its strong 75-year heritage. With plenty of market opportunities, the business is set for an exciting 5 years ahead with a combination of organic and inorganic growth expected.

Main Purpose of the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated UK Ops Manager to lead our UK Manufacturing facility in Derby. The facility consists of 28 staff members and manages the production of flame-retardant suits used by the emergency services across the country, in addition to the production of technical textile components used by several multinational companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of manufacturing and Quality control within the UK manufacturing site. The primary objective is to ensure that products, services, and processes meet required standards of excellence and comply with regulatory requirements, while delivering to customer expectations, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • UK Manufacturing site leader
  • Develop production plans and schedules in line with the Group Planning Manager and in accordance with customer requirements
  • Manage day-to-day production, adjusting schedules to meet changing priorities and deadlines
  • Oversee day-to-day Warehouse operations for the UK, including inbound and outbound deliveries, inventory control and raw material issuing to other manufacturing sites
  • Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and resources
  • Managing Production staff to ensure effective production uptime and ensure on-time delivery targets are met
  • Provide clear leadership, direction and motivation to Line Supervisors and their teams
  • Manage the training and development of the UK production team members
  • Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance KPIs
  • Work with the quality department to identify non-conformance trends and reduce rejects
  • Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
  • Develop standardised operational criteria across all manufacturing services
  • Develop the operations in line with business requirements (Safety, quality, cost, delivery, People)
  • Lead process control improvements
  • Recruitment and retention of staff in line with capacity requirements

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in Managing and Leading Site Operations within a Textile manufacturing or industrial setting (typically 5+ years)
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Standards, ISO, and quality Compliance standards
  • Proficiency in ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, or similar)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
