Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for steel and metalwork projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Produce detailed labour, material and equipment cost breakdowns.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, suppliers and clients to gather pricing information.
- Monitor material costs and supplier pricing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Support the preparation of bids and tender submissions.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions and supporting documentation.
- Provide ongoing cost analysis and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Carry out site surveying and measurement where required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Steel Estimator, Metalwork Estimator, Surveyor or similar.
- Strong understanding of structural steelwork, fabrication and metalwork.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good knowledge of labour, material and fabrication costs.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confident using estimating software, Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills when dealing with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
- Construction, engineering or related qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
