Purpose of the Role

The Deputy Headteacher will support the Headteacher in providing effective leadership and management across the school. The role plays a key part in driving high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, safeguarding, and pastoral care within a trauma-informed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Headteacher in promoting the school's culture, ethos, and values
  • Lead on curriculum implementation and assessment to ensure a broad, balanced, and engaging offer for pupils with complex needs
  • Support behaviour management strategies in line with trauma-informed practices
  • Work closely with the SENDCo to ensure effective provision and statutory compliance for pupils with SEND
  • Assist with operational leadership, including staffing, resources, and compliance
  • Represent the school at meetings, reviews, and external events when required
  • Promote high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing, and professional conduct across the school

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven leadership experience within a specialist or complex educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, SEND, Ofsted frameworks, and trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams while fostering a positive school culture
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and positive outcomes for young people
