PBS Practitioner – North HertfordshireSalary: £35,000 per annumEmployment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours), PermanentWe are delighted to be working with a reputable healthcare provider to recruit a dedicated Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and embed PBS principles across a specialist service, directly improving quality of life and reducing restrictive practices for individuals with complex needs.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and delivery of Positive Behaviour Support across the service
- Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) and develop individualised PBS plans
- Deliver staff training and practice workshops, supporting the upskilling of clinical and support teams
- Review and analyse behavioural incidents, contributing to the development of restrictive practice reduction strategies
- Collaborate with internal teams, families, and external stakeholders to promote person-centred care
- Support the assessment and smooth transition of new referrals into the service
- Participate in internal and external meetings, contributing to ongoing service improvement
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal quality standards
What We’re Looking For:
- A formal qualification in PBS or a related field, such as:
- BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
- MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis
- MA or MSc in Autism Studies
- PBS/ABA Graduate Diploma
- Proven experience conducting behavioural assessments and implementing evidence-based interventions
- Background in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours of concern
- Strong understanding of relevant legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act, safeguarding, risk management)
- Skilled in leading, influencing, and training others within a team-based environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- A strong track record in reducing restrictive practices
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
Desirable:
- Degree or higher qualification in Psychology or a related field
- Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health conditions
- Familiarity with additional therapeutic approaches, including trauma-informed care
