What you’ll do

  • Assisting and advising the public who visit the recycling centre on where they need to go to recycle certain items.
  • Using electronic payment systems and processes to complete customer transactions.
  • Ensuring that members of the public use the facilities in a safe manner avoiding risk or injury.
  • Safe manual handling and disposal of materials, including those that are hazardous, in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Cleaning any locations where spillages have taken place and ensuring that all areas of the site are kept clean and tidy.
  • Assisting in the control and direction of all traffic and users of the facility.

Who you are

You prefer to be working outside and keeping active than sitting at a desk. A sociable person, you enjoy interacting with the general public and providing a good service.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Functional skills in English and Maths level 1. The ability to follow straightforward oral and written instructions and keep basic work records.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in an Operational Environment, Customer Care Standards, and Road Traffic Legislation and Safety.
  • Experience of undertaking a variety of labouring or heavy manual tasks within a similar workspace.
  • Training in Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling.
  • Full driving licence.
