What you’ll do

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of ground maintenance for your local council.

A typical day might include:

  • General gardening, maintenance and horticultural duties as required at sites across your borough.
  • Routine maintenance of the council’s cycle route network using hand tools or mechanical equipment.
  • Assisting in minor landscaping tasks such as planting beds and pruning trees.
  • Cleaning hard surfaces, trimming hedges and cutting grass.

Who you are

An enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, you love working as part of a team. You’re comfortable being outside in all weathers with a can-do attitude.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Demonstrable experience in commercial or public grounds maintenance or general skills that can be applied to the role.
  • Full driving licence to at least category B for manual transmission vehicles.
  • Confidence and physical abilities to operate heavy equipment.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and risks associated.
  • Good level of physical fitness and aptitude for outdoor work in all seasons.
