We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Gateshead. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, is well organised, and can work independently while supporting the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
- Process purchase and sales invoices
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare VAT returns and support HMRC submissions
- Assist with payroll processing
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Support year-end accounts and liaise with accountants
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and company procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
