About the Role
As an AAT Skills Coach/ Trainer, you’ll support a caseload of apprentices, guiding them through their learning journey and helping them achieve their professional and apprenticeship outcomes. You’ll work closely with learners and employers, delivering coaching, assessment, and structured support aligned to apprenticeship standards and quality expectations. This role will involve face to face and group delivery sessions, in a classroom and in a virtual classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out initial skills assessments and skills radar calls to establish learner starting points.
- Deliver inductions and complete learner sign-up documentation.
- Coach apprentices through monthly progress reviews (remote and workplace-based).
- Deliver group learning sessions aligned to the curriculum plan and Ofsted requirements.
- Support learners with queries, development needs, and portfolio building.
- Track and assess learner progress against milestones, KSBs, and qualification requirements.
- Contextualise learning to the apprentice’s job role and working environment.
- Support apprentices to gather appropriate evidence for End Point Assessment (EPA).
- Coach learners through EPA preparation and readiness.
- Maintain accurate learner records, including off-the-job tracking.
- Escalate risks to learner progress in a timely and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with employers, line managers, and internal teams.
- Attend team meetings, standardisation, and CPD sessions.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong occupational experience in the AAT/ Accountancy sector (typically 5+ years).
- Relevant Accountancy qualification, such as: AAT, ACCA, CIMA.
- Experience working within apprenticeships or work-based learning.
- Understanding of End Point Assessment (EPA) processes.
- Assessor or teaching qualification (A1, CAVA, TAQA, PGCE, CertEd, etc.).
- Experience working within a regulated or quality-driven environment (Ofsted / ESFA).
