Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a dynamic and rewarding role within a vibrant school environment? My client is seeking an HR Manager to lead and deliver an effective and efficient HR function that supports the entire school community.

About the Role

As HR Manager, you will provide a comprehensive HR service, managing the day-to-day operations of Human Resources and the admin team. You will play a key role in employee relations, recruitment, absence management, payroll, and compliance, ensuring that all HR processes meet statutory requirements and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on all employee relations casework including grievances, disciplinaries, and performance management.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, advising on job adverts and participating in interview panels.
  • Ensure full compliance with safer recruitment procedures and maintain up-to-date HR records including the Single Central Record.
  • Manage absence processes, occupational health referrals, and family leave documentation.
  • Supervise the reception team and HR administrative staff, ensuring a professional front-of-house service.
  • Manage payroll processes in coordination with finance and conduct regular checks and reconciliations.
  • Complete statutory workforce census returns.
  • Organise staff inductions, probation reviews, and oversee training records.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on HR data to senior leadership.

The ideal candidate:

  • HR experience within an educational setting is essential.
  • Proven HR generalist experience at Senior HR Advisor or HR Manager level.
  • Sound understanding of current employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing a variety of employee relations issues and recruitment processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience required.
