FIND are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading provider of skills, employment support and rehabilitation to hire 2 Finance, Benefit and Debt Advisors. Our clients justice services team are seeking 2 advisors to support individuals in prison or under probation, a role that is both challenging and deeply rewarding. People in the justice system often face complex financial issues that can be overwhelming and act as barriers to rehabilitation. As an FBD Advisor, you'll help individuals:

  • Regain control over their finances, which is a crucial step toward rebuilding their lives.
  • Reduce stress and anxiety related to debt and financial instability.
  • Improve their chances of successful reintegration into society by ensuring they have access to the financial support they're entitled to.

We currently have three exciting opportunities available at the following locations:

  • Huddersfield and Dewsbury Probation
  • Leeds Waterloo Probation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist service users with financial issues through capacity-building, personal finance management, debt repayment plans, and access to benefits or third-sector support.
  • Work with service users in prison settings to help them access benefits and resolve debt issues.
  • Provide personal spending advice and budgetary skills training.
  • Communicate with utility suppliers, creditors, banks, and credit unions.
  • Develop positive relationships with participants to create action plans.
  • Adapt support to service user learning styles.
  • Ensure progress by following up on service user actions.
  • Advocate for additional support options (e.g., food banks, credit unions).

Skills Required:

  • Experience in training, advice, guidance, and counselling.
  • Experience working with ex-offenders and/or people from marginalised groups with barriers to support.
  • Knowledge of debt issues and personal finance mismanagement.
  • Proven ability to meet targets in high-performance environments.
  • Familiarity with the welfare-to-work sector and its customer base.
  • Knowledge of training, education, and employment opportunities.
  • High level of administrative accuracy and data security.
  • Have access to a car and Full Driving Licence.
