A high-growth national apprenticeship and training provider is appointing a Director of Quality & Compliance to lead quality, compliance and funding assurance during a critical phase of expansion. This is a senior leadership role with real influence, reporting directly to the Managing Director and holding responsibility as Nominee for the organisation.
The Role
You will take overall accountability for quality of education, regulatory compliance and audit readiness across a provision of approximately 1,800 apprenticeship learners. The organisation has a clear strategy to scale, and this role is central to ensuring growth is achieved safely, compliantly and with strong inspection outcomes. You will act as the senior lead for DfE funding assurance activity, compliance oversight and inspection preparation, while providing strategic leadership to curriculum, data and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Nominee for the training provider
- Lead on ESFA and DfE funding assurance reviews, audit preparation and outcomes
- Maintain oversight of funding rules compliance, ILR accuracy and evidence readiness
- Provide strategic leadership across quality, compliance and governance
- Line manage managers responsible for curriculum, data and quality assurance
- Ensure inspection readiness and continuous improvement across provision
- Support systems review and planned MIS migration within the next 12 months
Team Structure
- 3 direct reports: Curriculum Manager, Data and Compliance Manager, Quality Manager
- Six indirect reports overall
Systems and Technology
Current systems include PICS and OneFile. Planned migration to Bud or Aptem within the next year. Experience leading or supporting systems change is advantageous.
Location and Working Pattern
Fully remote, home-based role. Attendance on site two days per month in Midlands.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience acting as Nominee for an apprenticeship or training provider
- Direct experience leading ESFA funding assurance reviews or audit-related compliance activity
- Strong background in apprenticeships is essential
- Senior leadership experience across quality, compliance and audit
- Confident operating in a remote, senior leadership role
Highly Desirable
- Experience within childcare, early years, H&SC or education apprenticeships
- Experience supporting organisational growth or scaling provision
- Track record of improving audit confidence, compliance outcomes or inspection readiness
